You can use either the free Windows Server Evaluation Version (e.g. Windows Server 2019 or 2022 Standard, valid 180 days, downloadable directly from the Microsoft Evaluation Center) for testing, or install your own regular license obtained from a certified Microsoft Partner or directly from Microsoft (Bring Your Own License). KernelHost provides the server hardware and virtualisation; licensing of Microsoft products is the customer's responsibility.
The configurator currently offers Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022. You can install the chosen image directly from the customer panel within a few clicks after provisioning.
Yes. You have full administrator privileges on your server and can reinstall the operating system at any time from the KernelHost customer panel, either with a different Windows edition or with a Linux distribution of your choice. Note that any existing data is overwritten during a reinstall.
